  THE WESTERLY-PAWCATUCK REGION OF
THE ANTIQUE AUTOMOBILE CLUB OF AMERICA
Steam-Up at the New England Wireless & Steam Museum, Oct. 5, 2019
This year our club was invited to participate in the 55th annual Steam-Up at the New England Wireless and Steam Museum in East Greenwich, RI. About 6 member cars plus vehicles driven by friends and non-members created a nice field of some dozen old cars. All of our members were show participants and thus did not need to pay the $15 entry fee (a low price considering the awesome event). Live steam engines, some with 15 foot diameter flywheels, were demonstrated and explained. Numerous small engines were actively displayed by the many participants. We also were able to check out the museum radio collection including the original 1907 Point Judith wireless station. There were live demonstrations of ham radio and presentations on varied topics were given in the Meeting Hall each hour. Club members were very impressed by the event. We will be back again next year for sure! (NOTE: Check out the videos and comments at the bottom of this page)
Videos:            All videos were provided by Bob DeGoursey. He caught some of the action for us!
Comments from participants:

Email from Ken to members who attended:
Laura & Bob, Dave, Bob B. and Nancy, Charlie, Merrill, Tom,
Thanks for coming to the steam-up today.
Your presence made a big difference!
I hope you all enjoyed the event. Sorry I could not spend more time with the crew.
Good luck to you all in Hershey!
Ken

Email from Merrill Moone:
Thank YOU for arranging for us to participate. The steam-up is a great event with so much mechanical and electrical equipment on display in a very nice setting. There seemed to be a lot of interest in our old cars and it was nice to be treated as exhibitors contributing to the event instead of the source of revenue. Thank you again.

Email from Dave Calabrese:
Ken,
Thanks for setting up the event for us.  It was a very interesting and informative day.  I would return a second time to see more.

Dave
